One notable example from previous editions, exemplifying a thorough restoration, was the 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 (996.2) meticulously brought back to factory specification by Porsche North Houston, earning them the title of Restoration National Champion. The extensive work involved a detailed initial inspection to identify age-related wear, partial disassembly of the interior to address HVAC functionality, and comprehensive cleaning of the engine bay and underbody using advanced dry ice blasting techniques. Further mechanical attention included replacing engine seals, coolant pipes, and the clutch, alongside a thorough inspection of the transmission.
